Simmons Bank Names President for North Texas Division - May 9, 2019

DALLAS-FORT WORTH, Texas – Simmons Bank has named J. Terry Smith of Fort Worth, Texas president for the company’s North Texas Division. Smith will lead key banking functions for the Dallas-Fort Worth market, including management for bank product offerings, brand awareness, business development and community engagement.

Smith’s promotion caps 35 years of industry experience in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, America’s fastest-growing metro region with a total population of 7.5 million.

“Terry is a multi-skilled executive with an unparalleled understanding of our Dallas-Fort Worth market,” said Marty Casteel, Simmons Bank chairman and CEO. “Terry’s leadership has already produced outstanding results and continuity following Simmons’ merger with Southwest Bank, and this promotion is a natural extension of his leadership.”

Smith previously served as executive vice president and chief lending officer of Southwest Bank, which merged with Simmons Bank in 2018, and played a key role following the merger as Simmons’ regional chairman for Dallas and Fort Worth. In the year preceding his promotion, Smith oversaw a 12.56 percent increase in loans for Simmons’ Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Smith holds a master’s degree in finance from the University of Texas at Austin and holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University. He serves as a board member for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. and Mays Business School Commercial Banking Program at Texas A&M. Smith is a past board member for Dallas Summer Musicals, Christian Community Action and St. Ann Catholic Church.
