Simmons Bank Names Market President for Tulsa, Oklahoma - January 17, 2019

TULSA, Okla. – Simmons Bank has named Rex Horning market president for Tulsa, Oklahoma. Horning will spearhead strategy, talent acquisition, client relationships and product delivery for the Tulsa metro market while overseeing operations.

“Rex brings 45 years of experience and seasoned relationships to his role as market president,” said Mark Funke, president of Simmons’ southwest division. “What sets Rex apart is a deeply personal commitment to serve his community through banking – this goes hand in hand with Simmons’ values, and there is no person better equipped to serve our Tulsa market.”

Horning’s new role follows 17 years at Simmons Bank – previously Bank SNB – where he most recently served as vice chairman for the bank’s Stillwater and Tulsa markets. In this position, Horning was responsible for mentoring bankers and overseeing business development within his communities.

Prior to Bank SNB’s 2018 merger into Simmons Bank, Horning served for 16 years as market president for Stillwater, Oklahoma – Bank SNB’s headquarters. During this period, Horning was named 2004 Citizen of the Year by the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.

Horning is a member of the Advisory Council for the Oklahoma State Chamber’s OK2030 Initiative, a strategic plan to enhance the state’s economy, quality of life, business climate, workforce and financial stability. He also previously served as chairman for the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.

An Oklahoma State University (OSU) alumnus, Horning serves on the university foundation’s Board of Governors and sits on the university’s Past Presidents Committee. Horning’s previous service to his alma mater includes stints as chairman of the OSU Alumni Association Board, trustee of the OSU Foundation and chairman of the OSU Spears School Associates. In 2010, Horning received the Spears School of Business Orange Star Award in recognition for his service to OSU. Four years later, when the university celebrated its 100-year anniversary, Horning was named as one of the Spears School of Business 100 for 100, which honored alumni for outstanding accomplishments and service.
